The Power of Surrendering and Receiving Your Abundance
It’s time to stop, be still and let go in order to receive your abundance.
What is abundance really? When you think about abundance, what comes to mind?
Abundance is difference for each of us, for me, abundance is an indication of wealth – having a rich family life where I spend time with my loved ones, having the freedom to do whatever it is I desire and to create whatever it is I wish to have in my life. Having a lot of friends and of course having financial freedom and security.
So, what does abundance look, feel or sound like to you, what is your model of abundance?
For the purpose of this article, I will be referring to financial abundance and how surrendering supports you in achieving your abundance.
One of my favorite quotes by W. L. Bateman is ….

“If you keep on doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep on getting what you’ve always got.”
So, what are you constantly doing in your life to prevent you from receiving your abundance?
For me, as a self-confessed perfectionist, I know that I was distracting myself in being ‘busy’ for a long time at the expense of growing my Coaching and Mentoring business. I was busy making tweaks to my website here and there, getting yet another qualification in order to prove just how brilliant I am, hiding in the background because I wasn’t ready to charge that much money, who would pay me that! Until I realized that the secret to my success was surrendering.
I had done everything that I needed to up to that point to prepare myself for the next stage of my business and was ready for leaping into my brilliance and share my gifts with the world. Yet, I was finding that I was working harder and putting in even more hours than when I was in my stressful soul sucking 9 – 5 corporate job.
It was difficult to shift from that place of constantly being in struggle and feeling like I had to fight and work hard for the money I was earning. After all, society portrays women as being multitaskers, who are always pushing the boundaries to achieving success. This results in a feeling of being overwhelmed, stressed out, exhausted, depressed and drained of energy.
All we are doing is pushing more and more on a daily basis, which is resulting in huge resistance in all that we do. There goes that saying again. So that’s why we keep getting what we have always got! We would be served so much better by preserving our energy, right?
It would, if the emphasis wasn’t placed on us constantly being in combat mode in an effort to being successful. It feels like there is a constant battle taking place and we are always on our guard and ready for anything that may crop up in our personal life, career or business.
Our multiple roles, often conflicting – wife/partner, mother, daughter, sister, friend, caregiver, employer, employees and so much more. These roles, leave us pulling ourselves in all different directions. We tend to place our own deep burning desires at the bottom of the list, as we prioritize everyone else before ourselves.
What can we do to create the abundance that we desire?
It’s time to surrender. Surrendering is one of the most powerful actions that you can take in your life. Although it is often perceived in a very negative way. When we think of surrendering, we think of giving up on a fight.
Surrendering is defined as to ‘stop fighting or resisting to someone, something or a situation and just being’.
Even the definition confirms that we are ending a fight. Rather than seeing surrendering as a disabling choice, I advocate seeing it as an enabler and a transformational tool to support you in your journey.
Over the years, I saw surrendering as being a negative action, I was raised to be a strong independent woman, like my mom and her mom before her and hers before her. Surrendering was never a part of my vocabulary.
Why would I ever dream of surrendering? I held myself away from listening and trusting myself, until I stopped lying to myself and became aware that the life I was living was just not in alignment with my values and beliefs. I made the decision that my life had purpose and my message was awaiting to be released to the world to support other women to live their purposeful life. I made the decision to take the leap and fully accept the path I was destined to live in the most authentic way.
